ARE PLANNING PERMISSIONS REQUIRED FOR CONSERVATORIES?
While most instances of conservatory installations don’t require planning permissions, there are occasions where it may be necessary. For example, conservatories are considered permitted development, meaning we can build and install them without planning permission.
However, a handful of factors may require our conservatories to need permission. For example, the construction size, installation additions, height of installation, if there will be obstructions and if the property is a listed building by Southampton and Hampshire councils, they are all factors that must be considered before installation.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CONSERVATORIES AND ORANGERIES?
When considering the installation of additional space or a new room, homeowners will often compare conservatories and orangeries. The main difference between the two is the materials used and how they have been installed.
With conservatories, the roof is typically made entirely with glass, whereas orangeries use solid roofing materials. The brickwork of the two extensions will differ depending on the type, as conservatories will have more glass panels installed, whereas orangeries tend to use higher brickwork.
